The UK hasn’t build a reservoir in 40 years - but we are going to do just that in #Cambridgeshire. We have a water shortage and a new Fens Reservoir will supply water to Fenland and Cambridgeshire for generations to come.
It will take time - there may be no spades in the ground until 2029 - it will be led by Anglian Water - but as a nationally significant infrastructure project - it will require leadership from a Mayor and Government. We can do this and provide lots of leisure, environmental and economic benefits.
Today I went with Middle Level Commissioners to see St. Germans Pumping Station - and discuss how a reservoir need to integrate with their infrastructure and operations.
We need a Mayor with a vision for our area - let’s get Cambridgeshire and #Peterborough moving.
