The Dragonfly Hotel in #Peterborough was one of the last hotels stood up to accommodate young men who crossed Channel in small boats. 146 of them - despite Labour promises.
A few weeks ago I made a big and bold offer to the two Peterborough Labour MPs - to meet me and learn how we got the Great Northern stood down. They have ignored me.
Enough is enough. If our MPs and the City Council won’t do what’s needed - I will.
If elected Mayor of #Cambridgeshire and Peterborough - I shall meet with Ministers straight away to get them to stand down hotels like the Cambridge Bar Hill Hotel and the Dragonfly. Like I did with the Great Northern.
I shall also make the point that Cambridgeshire already takes it’s fair share of asylum seekers. Peterborough has more than any other place in the East of England. It’s time to stand up for Cambridgeshire and stand up to Ministers.
